BeSeen Marketing puts education to work!
Bucks UTC’s Integrated Marketing Campaign
Working with our client, Buckinghamshire University Technical College (Bucks UTC), for the past 18 months has been a learning experience for BeSeen Marketing. UTCs are a new concept in secondary education. They teach the standard national curriculum alongside industry related skills. The industries they specialise in are influenced by nearby corporate sponsors and local industry ties (for example, UTC Plymouth specialises in marine engineering). Sponsors and employer partners take key roles in supporting students so they gain valuable skills and work experience.
Bucks UTC focuses on construction and IT and BeSeen have been working hard to put Bucks UTC firmly on the map in South Bucks. We recently launched an integrated marketing campaign to promote their construction specialism and attract new students to apply. As an ambassador for Bucks UTC, we have further strengthened our relationship by becoming an employer partner of the College.
Bucks UTC Placements with BeSeen
As part of our joint commitment with Bucks UTC, we offered a work placement to IT student Natalia Paszkiewicz, an aspiring web developer, who has been working in our Beaconsfield office since early 2015. Natalia has gained invaluable web development experience and we’ve been delighted with her progress – so much so, we will soon be sharing her work on our blog. At the recent Bucks UTC Annual Awards evening, students were recognised for their outstanding contribution and we were thrilled to see Natalia win the ‘Can Do Attitude’ award for computing.
BeSeen Entrepreneur of the Year
The highlight of the Awards evening for us was presenting the BeSeen Entrepreneur of the Year Award to Year 13 IT student Liam Gates. This award sought to recognise outstanding drive, ambition and entrepreneurial spirit shown by a student and Liam was certainly a worthy winner. Liam was the driving force behind the recent Formula 3D event held at Bucks UTC. Sponsored by employer partners, including BeSeen, students from Bucks UTC and other local schools took part in a giant Scalextric race. Teams digitally designed their own cars and then brought them to life with the modern-day miracle that is 3D printing. Liam managed the entire process, from the acquisition of funding to the organisation and promotion of the event. BeSeen’s MD, Chris Bantock, was there to present Liam with his award and said “Liam really deserved to win the BeSeen Entrepreneur of the Year Award as he demonstrated strong commercial acumen, enthusiasm and drive to bring the event to life.” Back at our offices in Beaconsfield, the BeSeen Marketing team continue to promote Bucks UTC through social media, and look forward to welcoming IT student Natalia back in the autumn.
